Yesterday Paula made us a delicious dinner. We thought that it would be a good dish to use for two meals (leftovers are always helpful when you are busy…) and we were right. Paula cooked a pound of ground turkey and 1/2 pound of sweet italian sausage. After that was cooked and placed in a large baking dish, she cooked 2 cups of chopped onions for about 5 minutes. When the onions were soft, she added minced garlic and 1/2 cup of red wine and cooked for another 4 minutes. While that was cooking, I cooked a box of whole wheat pasta. All of this (meat and pasta) was mixed in a large baking dish along with 5 cups of marinara sauce. After all of this was mixed together, I covered the top with shredded mozzarella and parmesan cheese. Then it was baked in the oven for 20 minutes until the cheese had melted and the dish was bubbling. I set the timer on the oven so that it would cook while we were at church and when we returned, the house smelled incredible. We enjoyed the dish with a salad and it was a good meal for a cold night.
