Tonight we had Sloppy Dawgs. I received a cookbook for Christmas from Barbara. It was a year in recipes by Rachel Ray and Theodore picked out this recipe from it. Called Sloppy Dawgs, it was pretty easy to make. He really wanted to try it.. You start by heating some olive oil in a pan over medium high heat. Add 1 package of hot dogs that have been thinly sliced. Cook until golden brown. Add 1 medium onion and 1 red bell pepper, both chopped along with 2 cloves of minced garlic. Cook for 3-5 minutes until they soften. Stir in 1 16-0z can of baked beans. While this stays warm, in a medium bowl, mix 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar and 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce and 1 8-ounce can of tomato sauce. Add this mixture to the pan with the hot dogs and other ingredients. Cook about 5-10 minutes until the sauce thickens Serve by spooning the mixture into hot dog buns. A bit “sloppy” but very tasty – and best of all, very easy to make!
